SLAM Magazine is celebrating its 30th birthday in 2024, marking this monumental anniversary with special collaborative footwear projects from across the industry. While the magazine showcased its exclusive Nike Sabrina 2 project in October, official images of the publication's Puma project have made their way online.
Utilizing the Puma MB.04, LaMelo Ball’s latest signature model, the sneaker uses a tri-tone color scheme featuring red, silver, and blue. SLAM chose these colors to match the cover of the magazine’s 237th issue, which featured LaMelo Ball recreating the NBA logo in a pair of orange MB.01s. For its construction, we see the same 5D printed upper that features a raised, multi-layered design inspired by alien tentacles.
Below these tentacles, which wrap around the toe and midfoot in red and silver shades, sits a red knit base. Integrated into the TPU tentacles are branding details for Melo, including phrases like "1 Of One" and words like "Love," key motifs found on other Puma and LaMelo products. Contrasting the two-tone look are pops of blue along the tongue branding and on the SLAM logo placed along the heel tab. The two-tone silver and red foam midsole is finishing the design with Nitro Foam cushioning paired with a two-tone outsole.
The SLAM x Puma MB.04 will release December 27, 2024 through Puma and SLAM online. As of now, pricing information has yet to be announced. Download the Sole Retriever mobile app to stay updated on the latest releases, raffles, news, and more in the sneaker and streetwear world.
